The Dying for a Cure campaign has started!
Through this campaign I hope that together we can bring about change that redresses the balance between profits and public health in cancer drug development. It is no understatement to say that with your help this campaign could save many thousands of lives by pressing for changes that bring forward the day when we no longer live in fear of cancer.
For far too long we have waited for profit-motivated organisations to deliver cures for cancer that are not in their interest and it would be naive to think that anything different will happen without fundamental change. There is now a growing consensus of opinion from industry experts and members of parliament across Europe that opportunities for new treatments are being missed or priced out of reach of patients.
Now is the time for change. Now is the time for cancer patients to be heard. And now is the time to start putting lives before profits.
This campaign receives no funding from the pharmaceutical industry, so only has cancer patient’s interests at heart, as do many millions of people whose lives have been blighted by cancer and who donate their hard earned money to cancer causes. If you, or your organisation, benefit financially from the pharmaceutical industry, please dig deep into your heart and consider supporting what will inevitably be a difficult and contentious campaign. Those dying from cancer are not just numbers – they are husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters; people who depend on those in more fortunate positions to stand up for them. We owe it to them and everyone dying for a cure, to speak up and not turn a blind eye to this issue.
Thank you for your support.
